Now, more than ever, it is the time to talk about the craftsman , the one who rediscovers the strength of practical work on objects . For us it is the Homo Faber and it will be on display in Venice in 2021. We invite you to discover his art and what he is able to produce thanks to his imagination, his technical skills and the new design opportunities.
Being craftsmen at the time of the Coronavirus
HOMO FABER, the man who builds, creates and achieves. But today, even the man who imagines and invents. es, because the current quarantine situation related to Covid-19, Coronavirus, brings art professionals, such as artisans, workshop masters and designers to a work of study and domestic practice in view of a future reopening of the major events. In fact, just as artists use the walls of their home to carry on their projects and ideas, we can be encouraged too to create and dream from the serenity of our nest, especially in such a difficult moment that has put many of our certainties back in play. #acasamavicini is our way to live together the passion for furniture through the corners of our homes, which makes us fall in love every day.

Just like the Salone del Mobile in Milan, for which Ambientha is partner of Decor Lab , which has been delayed until spring 2021, other artistic celebrations have been postponed. Among them the long-awaited Homo Faber in Venice : the appointment is for 2021. In May 2020, the organizers will give information on the precise dates.
Who Homo Faber is and what he does. He expects us in Venice in 2021
A man who knows how to. Who has been able to give space and awareness to the excellence of the crafts of art. Those are rare and often forgotten professions, from carpenter to couturier, but over the years they have understood contemporary needs to give their trades a new interpretation. The Homo Faber event is now at its second edition , with a great entry into the art schedules and a first edition which counted more than 62 thousand visitors.

In 2021 this event, which has already won over all fans and more, will return on the island of San Giorgio Maggiore in Venice , with 17 exhibition spaces and 4,000 square meters within the Giorgio Cini Foundation , with a new and captivating theme: “Living Treasure of Europe and Japan” .
To curate this most excellent craftsmanship that gives a nod to the guest of honor, Japan, are important names of international experts and architects: from Michele De Lucchi to Judith Clark , from Sebastian Herkner to Stefano Boeri to Naoto Fukusawa .
It is the Homo Faber that reinvents the places of our life, from homes to offices. And it is from his work that installations become real iconic and unique elements, through the hands of the artisans. Inspiration is the constant for their realizations, as in the Inspiration Books Ambientha has created for the year 2019 and 2020 . Those are food for thought capable of making you undertake trips from minimal chic decor to the warmth of the warm tones of the African sun. Let yourself be inspired!
Getting involved artistically by Venice… Not a difficult task, but it requires innovation and extraordinary talent
Here creativity finds new perspectives and allows the eye to merge with the mind to finally reach the hand of the craftsman. An interweaving that we also find in the wallpapers of international artists who rediscover the glimpses of our Italy .

That is why it is the German designer, awarded professional of the year at the international event Maison & Objet 2019 in Paris , Sebastian Herkner , to invite Japanese and Europeans artists to the Homo Faber event. To give a new interpretation to the geometric designs of the churchyard of the Basilica of San Giorgio , thanks to the techniques proper to their craft: from mosaic to wood, passing through the fabrics and interior design that he also found here, and not only that, his idea of minimal chic decor.
Tailored suits, even for environments. It is the sartorial exhibition conceived by Judith Clark at HOMO FABER
The man and the creator will be at the centre of the event, like a tailor who realizes his textile work . The communication of the creative force of the hand of man is at the heart of the mission of the Michelangelo Foundation , which, also through Homo Faber, enhances and encourages the constant search for the crafts of art.

Whether human skills are used for major projects or material objects, the event wants to convey them through its Venetian spaces. Tailoring is one of those aspects of craftsmanship that is often forgotten . As a wall has its perfect wallpaper , so the human body asks for the dress and the objects that best suit it. An exhibition, designed by Judith Clark , one of the most important curators of our time, that will focus precisely on the ability of the design to evolve and transform . Dresses, watches, kimonos and many other objects of our lives will stage the techniques and stories of the Homo Faber involved. Trends that have occurred over the years also dictated by the artisans of the sector.

Thus, the layout of spaces changes over the years and moves among types of minimal chic furniture and ideas in line with environmental sustainability. In each new season it finds its landmarks .
We wait for Homo Faber and, in the meantime, we are committed to being one too… for the creation of an increasingly human future!
